I bought this Television set for the 2D to exchange the 720p DLP set I’d. I wanted top graphic quality without planning to Plasma. I cherished DLP, but the brightness was not competitive anymore and I was finally all set to go up to 1080p.
This set comes as close to lcd as you can — the greens are amazing (thanks to local dimming… as long as you aren’t really far off axis — but really, how many times do you sit and observe the TV from unusual angles?), the brightness is amazing, and also the colors are unbelievable. The default calibration is a bit off as mentioned before, nevertheless I’m pretty happy with only minor modifications from movie mode. Glossy finish probably isn’t ideal, yet it’s the norm these days, when I compared shiny to a 2 year-old unit with matte end in the store, I was shocked there was not a huge difference throughout reflective glare. I manage without the motion removing because it annoys me, but mostly because it’s just too good for my eyes. Others will discover it to be awesome. So far, I haven’t noticed issues with true 1080/24 content. *EDIT* My player was arranged to not send 24fps, and so i enabled that. Together with one disc I tried it introduced a number of oddness. Will keep trying along with report back.
Response instances are great with gambling, as long as you enable game playing mode which transforms off the processing. Don’t know why the other reviewer had an issue.
Wherewithal to directly stream DLNA (or perhaps via the USB, I do think) is one minor low light, but my BD player fills in the gap nicely. Video on demand is definitely way better around the Xbox, but I purchased the TV as a present, not for the VIA apps.
Remote isn’t as bad as a number of say. The keyboard is great, and you can program this via the TV like a universal remote. The amount of remotes can do that will? But, I curently have a much better universal, i really only use this as a backup.
3-D mode is one major lowlight if you’re considering the TV for that reason alone. I have done manifestations with Panasonic plasmas along with been amazed. But so far, LED-LCD doesn’t manage to do as good along with 3-D. This TV is no exception. Too much cross-talk. I do believe if you could miss the brightness in 3-D mode, it would be very convenient, but alas, you cannot. I have the Vizio eyeglasses. Another problem is that the IR sync is constantly smashing if anything gets in how or the angle becomes too far off axis. *EDIT* : I VIZIO XVT3D554SV have read a number of reviews and believe that it may be my articles selections thus far. If someone knows where to get several “reference” 3-D material, I will happily review and change this accordingly.
All round, the set cannot be beat for the selling price I got the idea for. There may be far better sets, but they’re plasma tv’s and/or considerably more expensive. Providing 3-D isn’t something you truly must have the best of, I do think this is a great buy for the price. As good or better than the competition and at a lower price point.
